Alex & Co. is a 2015 Italian situation comedy, broadcast on Disney Channel Italy and directed by Claudio Norza.
The series was broadcast in Italy on May 11, 2015, and ended on May 27 of that year. The second season debuted on September 27 of that year and ended on November 29, 2015.
On January 30, 2016, Disney Channel confirmed that the series has been renewed for third season, which was splitted in two parts, first beginning on September 24, 2016 and ending on October 22, 2016 and second beginning on January 21, 2017 and ending on February 18, 2017.
The series ended with a set of Special Episodes, which aired from June 26, 2017 to June 29, 2017.
Plot
Alex & Co follows childhood friends as they begin high school. Alex, a smart, fun-loving boy, thinks that high school is going to be one big party. The school head wants the school to hold its place at the top of the academic tables and insists students concentrate on traditional subjects, rather than music, singing and acting. Alex & Co have no option but to find their own way to express their creativity and talents.
Cast and Characters
Main characters
- Alex Leoni, played by Leonardo Cecchi.
He is fifteen years old, he is a good guy, nice, intelligent, and he always defends those who need him. He tries to be helpful to everyone around him. - Nicole De Ponte, played by Eleonora Gaggero.
For many years, she is the best friend of Alex, she is generous. She takes things very seriously and always try to change what does not go well. - Emma Ferrari, played by Beatrice Vendramin.
She's a nice girl. She is loved by all for being beautiful, and she is aware of it. On the surface, she seems courageous and self-confident, but deep down inside she is not, she needs constant approval from her friends.
- Samuele "Sam" Costa, played by Federico Russo.
He is a hardworking student, responsible, but shy. He often gets high marks, and dreams of being admitted into one of the best universities, but does not have the financial resources, therefore works at the part-time jobs.
- Christian Alessi, played by Saul Nanni.
He is the best friend of Alex since they were children. He is always cheerful, friendly and very nice but not a cocky guy.

Spin-offs
Penny on M.A.R.S.

On June 29, 2017, after the broadcast of the last episode of Alex & Co, a promo announced that a spin-off, Penny on M.A.R.S., will premiere in Autumn.
The series will follow the adventures of Penny (already main character in Special Episodes of Alex & Co.) and her dream to enter the music high school M.A.R.S.
Radio Alex

On January 30, 2016, Disney Channel Italy announced the arrival of the spin-off Radio Alex. The series aired in Italy on February 8, 2016.
Contests
Alex & Co. Cup song
In Summer 2015, when season 1 was finished, Disney organized a cup song contest to promote the second season. Participants had to play Music Speaks while making its rythms with a cup. The winner was Giorgia Lipari, who appeared in episode 23.
Alex & Co. Lip sync
Alex & Co - Lip Sync Contest - English and Spanish subtitles
After season 2, a new contest was organized. In this one, participants had to lip-sync We Are One, Oh My Gloss! or Incredibile. The winner was Suami Venturi, who appeared in episode 47.
Alex & Co. Super Fan
Super Fan contest was launched a month before season 3 part 2 premiere. This contest was looking for the biggest fan of Alex & Co. so participants had to answer daily quizzes about the series on Disney Channel website. The winner watched season 3 finale with Alex & Co. cast whereas the 10th biggest fans got the album Welcome to Your Show.
Movie

On December 2, 2015, Disney Channel Italy announced the release of a movie based on the series. On March 31, 2016 it was announced its release date - November 24, 2016 in Italy.

Trivia
- Michele Bottini has played different minor characters throughout the series. He was a football coach in episode 15 and 20 and a private driver called James from episode 45 to the last one. He also appeared in the Alex & Co. movie as a janitor of the school.
- Virgin Media, a British TV provider, initially called the series "Alex & Friends" in its listings, but Disney Channel UK confirmed they kept the original "Alex & Co." name.[3]
